    Kenya Tourist Board goes global

The Kenya Tourist Board will launch its first multimedia advertising campaign on CNN International, combining traditional TV spots with an online push comprising banner advertising and video pre-roll together with a run of print advertising in CNN's bi-monthly glossy travel magazine, CNN Traveller.

The campaign launches in late 2008 and marks the first foray into international advertising for the Kenya Tourist Board, as the organisation consolidates its goal of marketing Kenya as a world class travel destination.

Rani R. Raad, senior vice president for CNN International Ad Sales, said "We're delighted to be working with the Kenya Tourist Board in creating a powerful, cross-platform tool to reach CNN's international audience of business and leisure travellers. At CNN, we've worked hard to translate our knowledge of the tourism advertising space to create bespoke media campaigns that consistently deliver great results and we're pleased that the Kenya Tourist Board has chosen CNN for its first global campaign."

"This commercial partnership is an exciting one because CNN International provides an excellent vehicle to promote Kenya to an influential global audience, on-air, online and in print. We're looking forward to realising the rewards of the campaign," commented Najib Balala, minister, Kenya Tourist Board.

Kenya Tourist Board's campaign will be created by CNN Ad Sales' in-house creative production team, Turner Commercial Productions, and is scheduled to go live to a global audience via CNN in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as the international website, CNN.com/international later this year.

The campaign is funded by the European Commission. "As a major development partner, through this campaign, we're empowering Kenyans to generate income through key sectors such as tourism," said Eric van der Linden, Head of EU Commission Delegation.
