Global marketing roadshow pulls into SA

After a whistle-stop tour to London, Paris, Munich, Madrid and Lisbon, a new interactive marketing event pulls into Johannesburg for the first time in April 2008. Aimed at communications professionals, The Marketing Show examines the hottest new innovations and e-marketing techniques from the US, UK, Europe and Asia. And this year, South Africa's marketing industry is in on the act.

Says Tom Garrahan, longtime marketing and advertising executive and one of the hosts of the programme, “Most marketers are so focused on their local marketplaces, that they simply do not have time to study the potentially interesting new ideas and techniques being developed in other countries. The Marketing Show is a gateway to learn firsthand about some of the leading new best practices coming out of countries like the US, UK and the continents of Europe and Asia.”

While the event will aid local industry people to get up to speed with effective global marketing tools, they'll also have a chance to share tips and learn news through networking with the top brass in the industry. “The show is the master class for marketing companies who wish to be at the top of their game,” adds Garrahan.

    New consumer trends

This year's event will examine new consumer trends, how to succeed in social media, how to create customer value through online services, what's next in media and where you should be putting your promotion money. Other key presentations include where big business is going with sustainable business and marketing, new trends in retail innovation, and the right tools for calculating marketing ROI.

The format of the event is designed to stimulate its visitors through a multimedia approach and is run like a TV programme with interviews, short keynote-style presentations, product demonstrations, short features on new developments including video interviews with trend setters and newsmakers. An idea of how the event is run can be seen in a video clip at www.marketing-show.com/video.

The event will host big names from all corners of the globe, amongst others, Anthony Kleanthous, an author and senior policy advisor; Popke Rein Munniksma, head of 3D Experience; and Emmanuel Vivier, head of a top social media marketing company Culture Buzz.

The Marketing Show is being hosted at Microsoft in Johannesburg 15 – 16 April 2008. For full programme details, go to www.marketing-show.com/SouthAfrica.
