Technical Program Manager

Education and experience

• Demonstrated technical fluency and judgment, built through hands - on experience in software engineering or a closely related technical field - quality assurance (QA), DevOps, technical support, or solutions engineering - giving genuine command of the terminology and a real understanding of how systems are built.
• 5+ years in technical program management, technical delivery management, or a hybrid technical/project-management role inside software engineering organisations.
• Experience planning and delivering multi-team, multi-workstream software programs.

Technical core competencies

• Solid working understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), with the ability to quickly learn and apply company specific process
• Enough fluency in software terminology, APIs, interfaces, and data contracts to follow technical discussions and track dependencies and readiness as engineers and technical leads describe them - architecture and sequencing decisions stay with the technical leads
• Knows what minimum viable requirements set looks like before high-level estimation or design can responsibly begin
• Recognises when a change is likely to require AppSec review or penetration testing, and factors that into planning
• Exposure to ISO 27001 or a similar ISMS/security-compliance framework is a strong plus
• Basic understanding of SaaS and cloud-based application concepts.

Planning and tools

• Proficient with project/roadmap planning tools such as MS Project, GanttPro, OmniPlan, or equivalent (Monday.com, Smartsheet also acceptable).
• Comfortable working with ticketing/issue-tracking systems such as Azure DevOps, Zammad, Jira, or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining RAID logs, dependency maps, and milestone tracking across concurrent programs.
• Comfortable running or contributing to Agile/Scrum ceremonies to support team leads.
• Other duties may be assigned after successful integration

Reference number for this position is GZ61466 which is a permanent Hybrid position based in Cape Town Tyger Valley offering a salary of R1000K per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
