Man behind the music

Fans will be able to discover the man behind the music and follow Zakes’ journey on an Instagram Series, “Golden Hour – on the Road With Zakes Bantwini”, followed by a short, documentary-style after-tour movie to be shown on YouTube.

"Wherever I perform, I carry South Africa with me," says Zakes. "Whether I'm playing in Europe or at home, I want people to experience our music, our culture and our way of life. Corona's 'This Is Living' philosophy reflects how I've always tried to live, by taking time to step outside, reconnect with nature and appreciate the moments that inspire creativity. I'm proud to share that journey with the world."

Back home, the partnership will come to life through Mayonie Open Air, Bantwini's own festival property, where Corona joins as Official Beer Partner across Durban and Johannesburg. Together, the collaboration will create unforgettable sunset experiences where music, culture and the outdoors come together, perfectly embodying Corona's globally celebrated "This Is Living" philosophy.

The partnership also builds on Corona's belief that life is best experienced outside. At a time when modern adults spend almost 95% of their lives indoors, the brand continues encouraging people to step away from routine, reconnect with nature and embrace the moments that leave the biggest impression, especially during the golden hour.

Celebrated catalogue

Few South African artists have shaped contemporary music quite like Zakes Bantwini, who has spent more than two decades pushing African dance music onto the global stage. Beyond his own celebrated catalogue, he has built one of South Africa's most respected independent music businesses, nurturing emerging talent while championing the country's electronic music movement. His global smash hit Osama introduced millions of listeners to South African dance music, cementing his reputation as one of Africa's defining cultural voices.

"Zakes Bantwini represents the very best of South African creativity," says Vaughan Croeser, vice president of Marketing at South African Breweries. "His global success, entrepreneurial spirit and authentic connection to culture make him the perfect person to become Corona's Brand Ambassador. Together, we're celebrating a lifestyle built on meaningful experiences, nature and living life outside."
