Heart 104.9FM hosts on-air reality wedding show where the groom marries the best man

Getting struck by Cupid's arrow may very well take your breath away this Valentine's Day if you are gay, live in Cape Town and listen to Heart104.9FM. The station renowned for representing the richness and diversity of the Mother City will soon reveal the first five contestants in the Two Guys and a Wedding competition. This is the ultimate opportunity for two guys who are looking for true love and partnership to meet their soul mate live on air and celebrate the big day with an all expenses paid fantasy wedding and honeymoon.
The 8-week journey of love and romance will unfold live on Phat Joe's daily breakfast show (6-9am). Potential grooms for the first five contestants will be interviewed live on air next week by a panel of highly regarded experts. Heart104.9FM listeners will share in all of this excitement as well as the much anticipated wedding proposal and build up to the wedding day.

After weeks of getting to know each other with only the airwaves between them, the grooms will finally meet face-to-face for the first time moments before they are to be married. The luxurious 35-metre yacht, Nautilus, a boutique hotel on water berthed at the V&A Waterfront will play host to the wedding ceremony which takes place on 26 March 2011. Heart104.9FM listeners, family and friends are invited to share in this momentous occasion by attending the wedding ceremony from a viewing area adjacent to the popular Quay Four with panoramic views of the harbour and Table Mountain. There are plenty of glamorous surprises in store for the wedding party that will have them grinning from ear to ear and make their experience simply unforgettable.

Heart 104.9FM's Marketing Manager, Alexis Searle comments: "The reality of modern living is that it isn't easy to find true love. Fortunately we live in a country that is liberal and revolutionary despite its young democracy and allows same-sex couples the freedom to publicly display their commitment for one another through the act of a legal marriage. We are merely facilitating this right and want to share their love story on air."

On 30 December 2006, South Africa became the fifth country in the world to join an elite group of progressive democracies that allow legal same-sex marriages. They are also the first country in Africa and are currently one of the 22 countries out of 195 in the world to recognise same-sex marriage constitutionally. The competition therefore honours the values and essence of this constitutional right and at all times adheres to being a truthful mirror of the couple's intentions and how they feel about each other.

Julian Naidoo, Heart 104.9FM DJ adds: "Cape Town is the queer capital of South Africa and Africa and has been named as one of the 10 most popular gay travel destinations in the world. It's only fitting that Heart 104.9FM hosts such an exciting competition. As an interactive radio station, it's important that we provide a platform for our listeners to discuss and share their views and opinions about all issues. We hope to start a conversation that will make listeners more comfortable about same-sex marriage and welcome the gay community into society."
