Heart FM commemorates Youth Month with #HeartBeats4Youth

This June Heart FM will not only celebrate but get in touch with the youth of the Western Cape to make a real difference. On Monday, 1 June, the station kicked off its #HeartBeats4Youth campaign which aims to touch the lives of individuals one-on-one.
This campaign was launched two years ago to motivate and inspire youth by going into schools and spreading messages of hope.

In the lead up to June 16th 2015, commemorated in South Africa as Youth Day, Heart FM will be active in various communities to bring change where needed. #HeartBeats4Youth aims to bring something special to the young people of the Cape where often there seems to be no hope.

On Monday, 1 June 2015, the campaign kicked off with Suga (host) and Keri Miller (traffic) from the afternoon drive show #Drive326 fulfilling the wish of 14-year-old Omar Matthews, a leukaemia sufferer from Manenberg whose dream was to fly in a helicopter. Although a small gesture from the station, the event was a life-changing experience for Omar.

Activities over the next two weeks will range from fulfilling the dreams of young people, sport development in various communities, supporting feeding schemes and getting involved in literacy projects amongst others. Celebrities who are lending their support to the campaign include SA cricketer JP Duminy and singer Jimmy Nevis, who are both very active in their respective communities. The two will feature as guests on the #MyCapeTown hour on Sunday the 7th and 14th of June.

Stay tuned to Heart FM to feel these moments as we make a difference.
