Seven shortlists lead to Cannes Gold for Egg Films

We may be out of the World Cup, but South Africa scored big at this year's Cannes Lions Advertising Festival. Doing South Africa proud were the team at Egg Films who took home the honours, with the coveted Gold Lion being awarded to Kim Geldenhuys for his spot 'Selinah'. The commercial is reportedly South Africa's first Gold Film Lion in 11 years.
Conceptualised by Ogilvy Jhb, the commercial tells the true story of Selinah, an AIDS sufferer who experiences the effects of her disease being reversed over a period of 90 days. Each day of her recovery was documented daily over a period of three months and when edited together by Kobus Loots, the results were nothing short of astonishing. Further mention must be made of the people and suppliers who supported the project, with special thanks to Upstairs Post, Media Films Services, Black Ginger, Waterfront Studios and Human NY.

Their Gold Lion aside, Egg Films together with Humanoid scored a further six finalists on the Film & Films Craft shortlist, making 2010 a cracking good year.
