Healing the lives of heartbroken children since 1958

Physical and emotional abuse breaks the hearts of millions of children every year. Without protection and support, many make coping choices no child should ever have to; choices that bury too many young lives forever.

These are our children.

Girls and Boys Town established in 1958 to heal the overturned lives of South Africa's broken-hearted young. Today, our 10 family homes, 60 therapeutic professionals and a staff of 150 dedicated people work together to restore the resolve, love and light to the neglected and overwhelmed youth placed in our care by the Children's Court or community organisations.
Our unique peer care system, a principled SHINE programme and a longitudinal research collaboration with the University of Johannesburg underpin the best-practices we're known for - and our successful track record. In an average year, our residential treatment programmes, school partnerships and family counselling work help more than 20 000 vulnerable youth to deserve and value a rightful, meaningful and purposeful place in the world.

Girls and Boys Town SA is a registered NPO, a registered child and youth care service provider, and an accredited child healthcare provider. The organisation achieves a letter of good standing and audit compliance annually.

The work at Girls and Boys is almost entirely funded by private donors. Here's our report that reflects how your contribution is being used to heal the broken hearts and lives of the young girls and boys Girls and Boys Town cares for.
