Streaming service Netflix has revealed Jiva! as its next African Original Series. The fun and energy-packed dance drama series will be produced locally and showcases an all-African cast and crew, with Noxolo Dlamini from Sarafina Stage Production and Isibaya) playing the lead, supported by well-known local talent, including Candice Modiselle (Generations: The Legacy), Sne Mbatha (So You Think You Can Dance), Anga Makubalo (Generations), Given Stuurman (Shuga) and Tony Kgoroge (Invictus, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom).
The series, created by Busisiwe Ntintili, follows the life of the talented street dancer, Ntombi, who while juggling her job, family responsibility and a rocky love life, realises that dancing could be her only ticket out of her working-class suburb in Durban. The series will be produced by Blue Ice Africa with Ntintili, Adam Friedlander, and Tebogo Maila as executive producers.
