    QA TDD Engineer

    Location:Johannesburg
    Remote work:Only remote work
    Type:Permanent
    Reference:#GZ61389
    Company:E-Merge IT Recruitment

We're looking for a QA Engineer who breaks things professionally, so our customers don't have to.

You know that quality isn't something that happens at the end of a sprint. It's something that's built into every stage of development.

You don't just find bugs, you prevent them. You automate them.

You occasionally lose sleep thinking about edge cases nobody else considered.

You'll probably enjoy this role if you:
    • Have 5+ years working in QA, SDET, or Test Engineering on production software
    • Understand TDD because you've actually worked in teams that practise it
    • Can write test code regardless of whether the service is written in Java, C#, Go, Python, TypeScript, or something else entirely
    • Have tested microservices and event-driven systems without crying (too much)
    • Know your way around REST APIs and ideally have some experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or messaging systems
    • Have integrated automated testing into CI/CD pipelines
    • Love automation, but know that automating everything is how future-you end up writing apology emails
    • Write bug reports so clear that developers respond with "nice catch" instead of "can't reproduce"
    Bonus XP:
    • Experience testing AI/LLM features, prompt behaviour, RAG systems, or evaluation frameworks
    • Performance and load testing using tools like k6, Gatling, Locust, or JMeter
    • Security testing fundamentals and OWASP awareness
    • Chaos engineering, resilience testing, retries, circuit breakers, and fault injection
    • Frontend automation with Playwright or Cypress
    • Observability tools like Grafana, Datadog, Honeycomb, or Open Telemetry
    • Accessibility testing experience
    • Contract testing with pact or similar tools
Reference number for this position is GZ61389 which is a contract position offering a contract rate of R500 to R600 per hour negotiable on experience and ability. Contact Garth on az.oc.egrem-e@zhtrag or call him on 011 463 3633 to discuss this and other opportunities.
