Role overview:
The intern plays a critical role within the student advancement team, contributing towards bursary support for bursary students. This position entails providing both administrative and relational support to ensure students’ financial, academic, and personal development needs are met. This role emphasizes the holistic advancement of students through Feenix’s values of sustainability, innovation, transparency, and efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
Bursary administration
- Assist with bursary administration such as capturing student data, assisting with student recruitment and relevant bursary documentation.
- Ensure that bursary students' personal information is updated and checked on a monthly basis to ensure correct disbursement of bursary resources.
- Assist with the recruitment of bursary cohorts.
- Provide email, WhatsApp and telephonic assistance to students regarding available bursaries student support and advancement.
- Participate in onboarding sessions, orientations, and wrap-around services to support student engagement and well-being.
- Conduct admin duties for monthly bursary student check-ins, monthly and quarterly, to monitor academic progress and keep abreast with challenges impacting students.
- Conduct follow-ups with students regarding surveys, feedback forms, and pulse checks to gather insights on student experiences and refine support offerings as needed.
- Custodian of the bursary team’s administrative tasks, such as tracking, filing, research, etc engagement and wrap-around support services.
- Assist with the Pay It Forward (PIF) initiative, collaborating on a 10-month programme and encouraging students to participate in community impact projects and crowdfunding for other students when applicable.
- Conducting research on potential stakeholder partnerships that are beneficial for students monitoring, reporting and impact measurement.
- Assist with the collection of success indicators, maintain accurate student records, and monitor outcomes to enhance program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation team to prepare reports on student outcomes, resource allocation, and program performance.
- Assist with AdHoc research pertaining to students student communication and relationship building.
- Assist with all student inquiries, maintaining transparent, efficient, and student-centered communication.
- Work closely with students and student support teams to streamline consent processes, ensuring access to necessary student data while preserving privacy.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience in bursary administration support, student support, preferably within a nonprofit or educational setting.
