    Job description

    This is a role where you will carry high level responsibility, so you will need to have sufficient expertise and authority to lead a team who will look to you for strategic direction and guidance, which you will demonstrate through past experience in a similar role in an agency or publishing house. This role requires a combination of client-facing skills and team management and is slanted towards project and production oversight.

    The role will involve many of the below tasks and deliverables, which are weighted to provide an approximate idea of how much of your time each requires:

    Weighting = 45%: Editing and Copy-editing
    • All content produced by junior copywriter to be in line with client’s brief and brand tone, this includes press releases, blogs, newsletters, social media content (organic and paid)
    • Subbing all reports, agendas, client documents, etc. to check for factual errors, grammar, spelling, logic, consistency, and so forth
    • Maintaining and updating the Scout style guide according to industry best practice and client preferences
    • Reporting: must be sufficiently familiar with all clients to be able to copy-edit reports (checking for spelling, grammar, logic, coherence)
    • Newsletters: must be on top of best practice for subject lines and preview lines as well as optimal lengths and industry standard click-through rates.
    • Chatgpt – must be familiar with premium version and crafting brand tone filters.
    • Picture editing – must have a keen eye for choosing a hero shot and ensuring that all visuals chosen for social media are on point in terms of aesthetics, resolution and audience appeal.
    • Checking for readability and media and on-brand relevance.
    • Meticulously checking social media calendars with an understanding of best practice recommendations for the latest algorithms, channel changes, memes, lingo, length, etc.
    Weighting = 15%: Strategy
    • Develop tone and language guides for clients
    • Develop communications strategy documents for various clients, including targeting, approach to content, relevance to audience, frequency, etc.
    • Provide strategic briefing and guidance to copywriter if client’s brief is unclear or if the copywriter has not fully grasped and executed the requirement.
    • Filtering whether the content produced by the team meets the clients goals.
    • Must have a thorough grasp of client’s brand and communication strategy aims to be able to guide the production of the copywriter. Must be able to apply best practice.
    Weighting = 20%: Traffic management
    • Oversee all content production and copywriting schedule to ensure deadlines are met
    • Traffic in new work into the copywriting schedule and re-organise schedule if needed
    • Manage copy approvals and reverts with client
    • Be present in all client meetings to ensure that all client needs are met: manage meeting minutes via AI notetaker, send minutes to clients post meeting, update internal status documents
    Weighting = 10%: Writing

    You will occasionally be called upon to supplement the output of the copywriter, in the form of writing releases, blogs, articles, social media content, media invitation text, announcements, etc.

    Weighting = 10%: Client facing

    Preparing status documents

    Attending client meetings

    Maintaining positive, friendly and healthy client relationships

    Accountability to deliverables and deadlines
    Acting with decorum and necessary gravitas
