We are a growing product development company specializing in high-quality, artisanal children’s goods, educational items, and unique gifts. We are seeking a versatile, highly skilled Product Designer to join our team.

This is a dynamic, end-to-end role where you won't just sit behind a screen—you will take concepts from initial sketches all the way to physical production, packaging, and digital storefronts. Key responsibilities

• Concept and product development: Translate ideas into beautiful, functional product designs (including wooden toys, educational kits, and artisanal gifts).
• Prototyping and production design: Build physical prototypes and optimize 2D vector layouts for manufacturing, ensuring seamless execution on production machinery.
• Hands-on manufacturing: Operate and manage workshop machinery, including CNC routers, laser cutters, UV printers, vinyl cutters, and Cricut machines.
• Packaging design: Create structural and graphic packaging designs that elevate the unboxing experience and protect the product.
• Photography and marketing assets: Handle in-house product photography, expert image editing, and the creation of digital/print marketing materials.
• E-Commerce and platform management: Manage the digital rollout of new products by uploading listings, creating optimized product descriptions, and managing imagery across the company website and external sales platforms (e.g., Takealot).

Requirements

Requirements and qualifications

• Education: Relevant tertiary qualification in product design, industrial design, or a closely related creative field.
• Experience: 3-5+ years of proven experience in a product design, or production environment.
• Software mastery: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator is non-negotiable (expert utilization of paths, layers, and vector layouts for production setup). Note: This role focuses on 2D vector layouts; 3D CAD software is not required.
• Technical and digital skills: Practical experience operating (or a strong technical aptitude to quickly master) CNC machines, laser cutters, UV flatbed printers, vinyl cutters, and Cricut software. Competency in navigating e-commerce backend systems for product uploads.
• Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, a strong aesthetic sensibility, and the ability to learn new technical and digital skills rapidly.
• A valid driver’s licence is required.
