An online short course for non-mother tongue speaker of isiXhosa

IsiXhosa 123 Online Short Course
Are you a non-mother tongue speaker of isiXhosa who would like to be able to converse socially in basic isiXhosa? Then consider enrolling for this interactive language course.

What is the focus of this course?

You will be able to use isiXhosa in a functional manner and apply your knowledge to speak basic isiXhosa in social contexts. This course is practical and interactive, and real-life scenarios are incorporated to encourage the use of authentic language with a focus on all four language skills. The online sessions focus on authentic and interactive language use activities where you get the opportunity to practise isiXhosa in real life scenarios.

The short course is presented over a period of 9 weeks. Online contact time = 20 hours (2½ hours per week) | Online activities = 10 hours (1 hour per week of autonomous learning)

Upon successful completion of the course, you should be able to do the following in IsiXhosa:
• greet and introduce yourself,
• provide basic personal information such as name, age, address, and telephone number,
• ask and respond to basic questions,
• communicate socially using strategic competence, and
• use basic vocabulary related to everyday life.

A certificate of competence will be awarded following the successful completion of this course.
