How African Brands are reaching Europe's business elite

Brands active in Africa are showcasing their contribution to the economic renaissance on the TV show Africa Report - the weekly 30-minute programme on CNBC Europe - gaining exposure to 117 million homes in over 60 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Aired during prime time at 20:30 CET Saturdays and Sundays (before Jay Leno), Africa Report showcases business in Africa, focusing on investment opportunities and success stories.

"This is more than just a programme," says Magali Bongrand, MD of Africa Report. "We believe that an increased global awareness of commerce on the continent will impact positively on the people of Africa, due to its direct effect on trade relations and tourism."

This is supported by Professor Wiseman Nkhulu, the Chairman of NEPAD: "I believe that a programme like this could really lead to a better understanding of the great opportunities available to investors on the continent."

Africa Report, however, goes beyond Corporate Social Responsibility - it also serves as a cost-effective medium for global brands that need to communicate directly to Europe's business elite, as well as local brands that need to gain awareness on the global stage.

"There is no better way to get into the living room of Europe's business elite," states producer, Amanda Bouwer, "And these include the living rooms of 598 000 of the top 20% earners in the top 16 European economies, an audience where nearly 50% hold the title Chairman, CEO or Owner."

In addition to the European footprint, the programme is widely broadcast on the African continent (channel 54 on DStv).
