Twitter Lite now available in over 45 countries
Twitter Lite was launched in 2017 as an app in the Google Play Store. It loads quickly on slower networks and takes up less memory on devices. It is accessible to people with data, bandwidth, and device constraints. The data saving app is now available in over 45 countries.
The company is making the app available to 21 countries, including: Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Lebanon, Belarus, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay and Yemen.
These join the other markets where Twitter Lite has been available, such as: Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, Tunisia, Tanzania, Egypt, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Israel, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Malaysia, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Serbia, El Salvador, Thailand, and Venezuela, in addition to the Philippines.
Much like Twitter, Lite includes features such as Bookmarks, a darker “Night mode” theme, threads as well as push notifications.
Twitter Lite enables users to turn on a Data saver mode which allows them to control which images or video load when browsing the network. Once enabled, you can load this content by tapping “Load Image” or “Load video,” as needed.
The app is also under 3MB in size, so it will load more quickly on slower networks.
