The programme will address issues such as economic policy, regulation, infrastructure, diversification, private-sector growth, politics and leadership.
Head of programming Jill de Villiers says, "Beyond Markets is designed to become a must-watch markets-and-beyond show across the continent. The team will give viewers a roundup of the day's main African markets, with commentary on trading patterns, currency trends and corporate actions."
Mbele says that the show will create a context for the more substantial discussions on the causes and effects of business cycles, and she is looking forward to dialogue with the vast talent of African intellectuals, entrepreneurs, political leaders and industrial champions.
Another change on the morning schedule, according to de Villiers, is an extended and newly structured version of the morning markets show Open Exchange. Starting half an hour earlier at 8am, with Eleni Giokos, Stephen Gunnion and Alishia Seckam at the desk, the show will give greater prominence to the two other main markets regions on the continent - East and West Africa.
From 8am to 8.30am, the focus is on East Africa; the JSE focus remains between 8.30am and 9.30am; and from 9.30 to 10am, Street Talk with Alishia Seckam becomes Open Exchange West Africa.
