    Nikiwe Bikitsha co-anchors Maggs

Nikiwe Bikitsha has joined the eNews Channel, co-anchoring News Night with Jeremy Maggs, weekday evenings 6pm - 9pm.

According to Debora Patta, eNews group editor-in-chief, Bikitsha adds to the channel's already strong anchor lineup. “Bikitsha is one of the country's most respected and well-known radio and television news journalists, having been in the industry for 12 years," says Patta.

After studying journalism at Rhodes University, Bikitsha worked her way through the ranks, starting her career as a radio field reporter at 567 Cape Talk. She then moved to Talk Radio 702, where she was a senior reporter and duty editor.

    Social commentator

Bikitsha was John Perlman's co-anchor on the AM Live show on SAFM and has anchored television current affairs programmes. She has recently taken on a different role, that of being a social commentator for the Mail & Guardian.

Currently completing her honours in journalism at Wits University, she plans to study for a Masters in economic development or international relations next year.

On joining the eNews Channel, Bikitsha comments, "I am passionate about news and this passion is fuelled by understanding why the world works the way it does. I am always probing and want to get to the bottom of a story. The eNews Channel is an ideal place to explore local and international stories, on a daily basis, in an environment that offers independent coverage."

Her first night as co-anchor was Tuesday, 11 May 2009.
