The conference is scheduled to take place from 3 - 4 August 2009, at the Sandton Sun hotel and conference venue in Johannesburg, South Africa. Special focus will be given to future developments related to digital broadcasting, online TV, video on demand, high definition TV, IPTV and mobile TV. The event plans on focusing heavily on new mobile and internet technologies that make video and audio broadcasting to PC's or mobile devices possible. Organisers believe this could see companies not traditionally in the broadcast arena present real competition to traditional television broadcasters.
The topics are relevant for broadcasters and mobile operators internationally, as many countries on the African continent have higher penetration rates of cellular phones than television sets and a large portion of the continent may watch the 2010 world cup matches on mobile phones. Additionally, many industry players and regulators face the prospect of migrating their broadcast networks from older analogue to digital signals and technologies.
The conference is host speakers from companies such as Ericsson, A24Media and Neulion.
