Launched in December 2003 as a seven hour channel, the African general entertainment channel has gained widespread popularity with increasing demand across the African continent for its homegrown entertainment produced in Africa, by Africans, for Africans.
Hamida Suliman, Head of the AfricaMagic channel, says, “This channel truly has a life of its own. When we set out, this idea was to provide a home for African content, a place where TV viewers could find African entertainment. Today I can confidently say that our audiences have forged into a community that shares African stars, stories and an identity.”
Broadcasting on channel 102, the new 24 hour format will include new daily breakfast show, Africa Awakes; season 3 of Treasures; Rough Edges; the reality show Niger Delta Peace Initiative; season 2 of the Oge with Iretola Fashion Show; Shallow Waters; and House a Part. AfricaMagic will also screen the 2007 AMAA Awards in May 2007.
