Ensuring that the skills set of journalists is updated, the Storylab Academy is providing free training to improve digital storytelling in journalism.
The combination of free online webinars and face-to-face training is coming soon to a city or space across Africa.
Courses are being offered in:

- Investigative Reporting
- Geo-Journalism
- Verification
- Digital Security
The courses are underwritten by Google News Lab and the World Bank and are presented by industry experts from Code for Africa's StoryLab.
Modules range from 10-minute crash courses that teach quick skills, to 30 minute deep dives into more complex techniques. The philosophy is: “Customise your course, and work at your own pace.”
The Storylab Academy is also providing free newsroom and hacks/hackers workshops in Abuja, Cape Town, Casablanca, Dakar, Dar es Salaam, Durban, Freetown, Johannesburg, Kampala, Lagos, Nairobi and Yaounde.
