The Loerie Awards has launched a new category for the Ubuntu Award, sponsored by Hetzner, to recognise the positive influence of brands on the social and physical environment.
    Loeries launches CSI category

“It is increasingly important for companies to ensure that their brand is a positive contributor to our environment. What we are looking for with this new category is brands that have gone the extra mile to improve our living conditions, whether it be in the form of community services or protecting and enhancing our living space,” says Andrew Human, CEO of The Loerie Awards. “The Loerie Awards promotes creative thinking and it is only right that we recognise innovation with regard to our living conditions and help build a positive future.”

Eligible entries for the Ubuntu Award must:

    • Demonstrate a positive social or environmental impact on behalf of a brand,
    • Be appropriate to the business of the brand,
    • Reflect an active and ongoing campaign that took place in the period of 1 June 2009 to 31 May 2010. The campaign may have started prior to this date, but must have still been running during this eligibility period.
Hetzner has been a sponsor of The Loerie Awards since 2005, hosting the internet services including the online entry and judging system. Last year, they off-set the carbon footprint of The Loerie Awards by sponsoring a tree planting programme for the Delft community in Cape Town.

“Through our sponsorship of the Ubuntu Loerie, we are able to assist in showcasing the collective effort from companies within our region that has gone into promoting the long-term sustainability of our environment and upliftment of communities,” says Athena Turner, Hetzner's marketing and communication manager.

The entry deadline for the 2010 Loeries is 31 May 2010. For more information on the Ubuntu Award and all other categories, go to www.theloerieawards.co.za.
