Reg Lascaris’s induction into the Loeries Hall of Fame comes 43 years after he and John Hunt founded Hunt Lascaris in 1983. It recognises a career spent pushing the boundaries of what South African advertising could achieve.
“When John and I started our agency, we were two extremely naïve and somewhat unknown individuals. As it turned out, our naïveté became one of our greatest strengths,” said Lascaris. “Brave advertising requires brave clients… and we had many!”
Four decades on, that same bravery continues to drive the agency, and is now in the hands of a new generation.

Carl Willoughby’s appointment as Loeries chairman comes at a pivotal moment for the industry. He recently served as a judge in the Film and Film Craft categories.
“The quality of the work at this year’s Loeries felt extremely high. From the Bronzes all the way to the Golds, the winners should all be proud of their work,” said Willoughby. “It’s been an incredibly inspiring week. I was privileged not only to judge Film and Film Craft, but also to have the panel chaired by Susan Credle, an incredible, accomplished global creative leader.”
Looking ahead to his tenure, Willoughby has set a clear agenda: “Over the next two years, I’d like to focus on strengthening the relationships between the various industry bodies. There is so much we can all benefit from one another.”
