SAPA head office cut off by cable thieves

The Johannesburg headquarters of the South Africa Press Association was unable to communicate with the outside world for nearly eight hours on Tuesday when cable thieves hacked away nearby telephone and data lines on the Telkom network. The staff had to resort to sending out email versions of news reports via a cellphone-linked laptop.
