Sports magazine honours SA sports stars
The December 2006 issue of Sports Illustrated South Africa celebrates a year of extraordinary performances by sportsmen and women with the inaugural Sports Illustrated Sports Awards. The first Sports Star of the Year award goes to Bok forward Os du Randt. Sports Illustrated's US sister publication has been honouring sportsmen since 1954, an award that has become one of the most prestigious honours in sports; past winners include Michael Jordan, Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Muhammad Ali.
