Yengeni pleads guilty
Former ANC chief whip Tony Yengeni has pleaded guilty to a charge of fraud as part of a plea agreement with the state. He was charged with corruption for buying a Mercedes Benz ML320 at almost half price in return for allegedly using his influence to "market" the products of Daimler-Benz Aerospace. He also admitted to improper conduct by publishing a newspaper advertisement for R283 000 which sought to justify the discount (See "Yengeni ads unpaid for").
