Nine cities in bid for 2012 Olympics

The deadline cities bidding to host the 2012 Olympic Games has passed, with nine cities having submitted applications to the International Olympic Committee - Havana, Istanbul, Leipzig, London, Madrid, Moscow, New York, Paris and Rio de Janeiro. The host city will be chosen during the 117th IOC session in Singapore on 6 July 2005.
