The Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) will be holding public hearings this Friday on the renewal of M-Net’s eight-year broadcasting licence which expired in March. There is controversy over M-Net using the increased viewership figures of their open-time slot to attract more advertising revenue, and it is expected that ICASA will concern itself with M-Net's compliance with current licensing conditions.
