Marketer and designer turned ethical artistic jeweller, Charmaine Taylor taught herself how to design jewellery and started up-cycling the original prison fence from Robben Island Prison that was salvaged in 2009. Sappi approves construction of demonstration plant for Xylitol and Furfural
Sappi has announced further progress in the development of its biorefinery capacity with the confirmation that it will construct a demonstration plant to further scale up its novel Xylex® technology for the production of Xylitol and Furfural. The plant will be located adjacent to the existing sugars and lignin extraction plant at Ngodwana Mill. It should be operational early in 2019. Pending successful results and further approvals it is anticipated that Sappi may construct commercial Xylitol and Furfural plants adjacent to our mills in the USA and South Africa. 20 Jul 2018

Panasonic reveals new SA headquarters in Cape Town
Panasonic South Africa, a local subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation, unveiled its new Cape Town offices last week. It was decided to move its headquarters to the Western Cape from Johannesburg because of the growth in its customer base in the region as well as to have access to other large companies located in the Cape, according to Hiroyuki Shibutani, Panasonic's head of the Africa region.
