African Union welcomes EU support
The chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, welcomes the decision by the European Union Council to establish an assistance measure under the European Peace Facility (EPF) in support of the African Union, worth 600m euros, for the period 2022 to 2024.

The chairperson commends the three-year EU support as a demonstration of the commitment to build stronger partnership with the AU in line with the joint declaration of the sixth AU-EU Summit, held in Brussels, in February 2022.
Furthermore, the chairperson underscores the importance of regional and multilateral co-operation to strengthen AU-led peace support operations towards building durable peace on the continent.
