    TEDxJozi hosts first TEDxWomen

    TEDxWomen (@tedxjoziwomen) is set for this Friday, 10 December 2010 at The Market Theatre in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event, organised by two South African women, creative entrepreneur Yolandi Michaels and IT consultant Jessica Mathekga, aims to provide a global voice to local content on women issues.

    Under the theme 'How are women and girls reshaping the future of Africa', TEDxJozi speakers will discuss topics that aim to generate debate and encourage creative thinking for a positive impact on local communities. TEDxJozi speakers include Rachel van Doorene - founder and editor of Women inc magazine, Atul Patel - CEO of Star Schools, Rita Tandy - Social Change agent working with township children and Kagiso Msimango - creatrix of The Goddess Academy.

    Pre-conference session

    In addition, a two-hour pre-conference session called TEDxJoziLive, will take place on the Wednesday, 8 December 2010 at Cell C offices in Sandton. This session will connect via webcast to the first TEDxWomen conference taking place in Washington DC, US.

    The session plans to focus on how women think, work, communicate and collaborate, to learn and lead and will also allow speakers to be showcased on an international level where they will participate in an intercontinental conversation via Skype.
