    Wellness Warehouse launches plant-based pop-up

Health and wellbeing retailer Wellness Warehouse has introduced a pop-up shop inside its Cavendish Square store in Cape Town, that caters to customers with an interest in living a more plant-based lifestyle.

The thinking behind the new addition is that consumers across the globe are opting for healthier, more ethical lifestyles and better eating habits, which is driving a rise in the popularity of plant-based options. #GreenMondaySA, for example, has grown into a worldwide movement aimed at cutting out meat at least once a week. More and more individuals – whether they identify as vegan or vegetarian or not – are choosing to incorporate plant-based meals into their way of eating, and South Africans are on board too.

According to the ProVegSA, South Africans transitioning to a plant-based diet are on the increase. While the numbers are still relatively low, there has been a significant rise in the demand for plant-based food products and retailers who support this.

“As a leading health retailer, it’s up to us to keep up to date with consumer wants and needs, and we are very excited to announce our latest innovation. The Plant Power Pop-Up is focused on all things plant-based to cater to the growing interest in the lifestyle amongst our customers,” says Wellness Warehouse CEO Simon Alston.

The Plant Power Pop-Up is a one-stop plant-based shop-within-a-shop set up as an experiential space where customers can browse, learn about and engage with plant-based products and information. Regular tastings and events aim to create a community of like-minded customers with a local go-to for their plant-based needs and inspiration.

Wellness Warehouse says products on offer include everything from plant-based foods to specialised supplements and cruelty-free beauty and baby solutions. A dedicated plant-based health consultant is also on hand to guide customers who may be unfamiliar with the lifestyle, as well as to make the space as convenient as possible for regulars shopping for their essentials.

“Plant-based lifestyles play an important role in the continued health of both people and planet, and we are excited to be offering people an opportunity to learn, engage, trial and make the right purchase and lifestyle decisions. Wellness Warehouse is committed to contributing to and growing this movement,” concludes Alston.
