Can't read, won't buy... - Mon, 18 Aug 2014Françoise Henderson says that as Chinese is set to overtake English in 2015 as the biggest language on the internet, with Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Russian making rapid inroads, the advantages of a translated website are obvious... Studies by analyst firm Common Sense Advisory has found that 75% of customers prefer buying products in their own language. So, basically, if people can't read or understand your ad, they won't buy your product.

In other news, in this week's Loeries Creativity Q&A, we chat to 2014 Cannes Gold winner, Ali Ali, Film Director and Founder of Elephant, Cairo.

Jaco Cronje writes about the challenges of doing business in Africa, and Emma Okonji says that in Nigeria, digitally pirated products are on the increase, resulting in financial losses by Microsoft Nigeria, which is worst hit, and the Nigerian government through tax evasion. It is reported that digitally pirated products are estimated to reach N38.4 trillion in 2015.

Last but not least, if you missed last week's Biz Takeouts show, listen to the podcast which is now available.

That's all from me, have a great week!

Cheers!
