The announcement was made by Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings during his keynote presentation at CES 2016, currently taking place in Las Vegas.

In 2011 Netflix struck a deal with DreamWorks Animation, meaning the service isn't just for adults, but the whole family too.

As with all online streaming, a fast and reliable internet service is needed. Hastings said that the average internet speed is increasing, making this an opportune time to share the Netflix service.

There are three subscription packages available, a Basic plan providing SD resolution to one screen costing $7.99 (R126) per month. Then there's the Standard plan, bringing HD resolution to two screens at $9.99 (R158), and finally the Premium plan, which gives HD/UHD to four screens at $11.99 (R190).

A free trial is available, giving users a chance to test the waters. Sign up here and find out more about the entertainment service.
