    Motor trade sales increased by 6.5% y/y in December

    Motor trade sales (measured in nominal terms and current prices) increased by 6.5% year on year (y/y) in December 2014‚ Statistics SA reported on Thursday, 19 February 2015.

    Motor trade sales increased by 3.5% in 2014 compared with 2013.

    Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1.2% in December 2014 compared with November 2014. This followed month-on-month decrease of 3.1% in November 2014 and a decline of 0.7% in October 2014.

    Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2014 compared with the previous quarter.

    Motor trade sales increased by 4% in the fourth quarter of 2014 compared with the fourth quarter of 2013.
