RamsayMedia gives a hand-up to design students
A dozen previously disadvantaged learners are to have their work showcased in two leading publications. The Learn to Earn graphic design students were challenged by RamsayMedia to create an advert for Foodbank SA, and the successful entry scheduled to appear in the August and September issues of Getaway and Popular Mechanics. The students are completing a ten-month bridging course to enable them to access tertiary education in graphic design. The students were recently hosted by RamsayMedia to a visit that included a presentation and tour of the company's offices to experience a publishing environment first-hand. RamsayMedia has also undertaken to give a three-month internship to two of the course graduates on completion of a recognised tertiary qualification.
The project the students were assigned allowed RamsayMedia to fulfil another of its CSI commitments - R250 000 in media space for Foodbank. The NGO was one of the beneficiaries of the Ramsay Racer agency competition, which saw the three regional winners select a charity to receive exposure across the company's brands and platforms.
