Continuing with our Trends Month on Bizcommunity.com with #BizTrends2018, we have Mimi Kalinda, the MD of Africommunications Group, today, talking about how to balance communications strategies in Africa. She believes cultural identity will become more important as borders become more flexible to facilitate trade: "Communication that celebrates cultural nuances and sensibilities is going to be important to ensure that audiences still feel like brands understand that they have a cultural heritage which they deem paramount."
Continuing with culture, six African films have made the shortlist for this year's Hollywood Academy Awards. The Oscars will be awarded on 4 March 2018 in Los Angeles. African animation is taking its place as among the best in the world and homegrown content is certainly making its mark. Congratulations go to all the worthy finalists!
Bravo also, to the African Union for coming out with a strong reaction to US President Donald's Trump's ill-considered comments about developing nations. Maybe the AU should now consider a global branding campaign to promote Africa as the beautiful, talented, innovative continent that it is, to combat such stereotyping?
