Cash Call TV introduced in Malawi

Jet Telecom, a telecommunications value-added service provider that operates in Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Uganda has introduced an interactive television game show in Malawi. "Cash Call," broadcast on Malawi Television (TVM) combines entertainment and education, testing viewers' knowledge on a range of issues.

A representative of Jet Telecom in Malawi, Agnes Kubwalo said many Malawians have shown great interest in the programme ever since its introduction on Monday, 9 February.

“Viewers are asked a series of questions on general knowledge and then the studio conducts a draw from a pool of entrants who are then called during the show to answer questions appearing on the screen at that particular time,” explained Kubwalo.

The prize consists of cash equal to the amount displayed on-screen. In order to participate in the game show, which is being hosted live, viewers have to either call or send a text message to the number displayed on tv.

TVM Controller of Business, Dan Tambala said the TV station has accepted the show because it fits well with their mandate to educate and entertain.
