OATS rebrands Africa division

JOHANNESBURG: Oracle Airtime Sales (OATS) has announced the rebranding of its Africa division to DStv Ad Sales.

"In South Africa, our brand is entrenched in the advertising industry, however our expansion into Africa warranted the rebranding to avoid confusion with the software company, as well as the word 'airtime' and its association with the mobile phone industry. In the rest of Africa we're known as DStv and it therefore makes sense to position ourselves as DStv Ad Sales,” says Cheryl van Rensburg, GM: Africa.

To further boost expansion into West Africa, Henry Meyer has been appointed as regional director and will be based in Lagos from early 2009. Henry is well known in the local industry having held a number of positions at Oracle, most recently heading up sales on M-Net's original productions.

“Africa is a critical growth area for us and Henry's client service and sponsorship sales skills, along with his production experience will greatly enhance our sales efforts in Africa,” says Chris Hitchings, OATS sales director. Hitchings went on to confirm that Henry will work alongside and support the local agents who have been doing an excellent job at growing the business.

“This is an exciting challenge to put my experience to the test and play a strategic role in the company's market expansion”, says Henry Meyer on his new position at DStv Ad Sales.
