Lobedu Leo Burnett delivers on IEC Results Centre branding

Lobedu Leo Burnett secured the entire Independent Electoral Commission's (IEC's) advertising campaign and the branding of the 2004 IEC Results Centre in Pretoria.

The Results Centre assignment presented the agency with the task of producing fourteen different branding elements and did so in conjunction with production specialists, Beith, in less than ten working days, an undertaking successfully completed within deadline

Ron West, Beith CEO, said the logistics involved in meeting the deadlines required meticulous planning and organisation. "We are very happy to have assisted Lobedu Leo Burnett with the IEC campaign. It was a pleasure to play this small role in South Africa's third democratic election."

Zeona Motshabi, MD of Lobedu Leo Burnett, said one of the most successful elements of the campaign were the 4m high teardrop banners, boldly branded with the IEC logo in blue and white, lining both entrances and directing officials to the Results Centre. "The banners looked so fantastic, that the IEC ordered additional banners a week before the election."

Other components of the campaign included gigantic entrance and exit towers, direction banners, IEC branded carpets, wall and balcony banners, and both drop and pull up banners. Twelve 2 by 1,5m pop up roof banners were designed, and hung from the roof, creating a three dimensional feel to the branding.

"It was no mean feat to have all the branding ready for the election," says Motshabi. "The Lobedu team, our subcontractors and the IEC staff put in an enormous amount of effort for this campaign, working around the clock to ensure the task was completed timeously."
