New board for Hospital Association of South Africa

The Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA) has elected a new board for the coming year, with representatives from the association's main members - Life Healthcare, Netcare, Mediclinic and the National Hospital Network (NHN).

The organisation represents about 80% of the private hospital sector. Together, these groups own and manage approximately 220 hospitals, servicing 28 675 hospital beds.

Melanie Da Costa, who was re-elected chairperson for another term, said, "Despite the complexity and challenges of healthcare in South Africa, the newly elected board brings together individuals with deep insight and on-the-ground experience of delivering quality healthcare. By engaging proactively with government and all players in the healthcare sector, we hope to contribute positively to health reform initiatives."
