New fun-fair rides to explore as a family over the festive holidays
Carnival City is all about family fun, especially during the December holidays. This year, the spotlight is on the fun fair, where several new rides are guaranteed to crank up the excitement for thrill-seekers of all ages.
Fun fair rides are available outside Magic Company for R300 per child/person for unlimited rides (excluding go-karts). To make this summer even more exciting, from Saturday, 13 December, several new rides will be added, including a bigger and better Ferris wheel, Rodeo, Crazy Beach Party, Twin Ranger, bumper cars and Wild Mouse. These join Carnival City’s much-loved existing rides: Carousel, Mini Wheel, Cups, Palio, Free Fall, Balloon Ride, Skylab, Elephant Rides, Break Dancer and Wacky Worm.
Pocket Park is R50 per child.
With an exciting selection of adult and children’s activities to choose from, you’ll never be bored in Brakpan. From the latest arcade games at The Magic Company to Lazer Zone, ten-pin bowling, fun-fair rides and go-kart racing, Carnival City has all the boredom-busting games and gadgets to keep the whole family entertained. You can also catch Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters at Ster-Kinekor while friendly childminders look after the little ones at Kidzone Crèche.
And of course, no-one wants to miss meeting Mr Christmas himself. Santa Claus will be asking who’s been naughty and who’s been nice from Monday, 15 December 2025 all the way through to Christmas Day.
Ster-Kinekor at Carnival City brings you the hottest Hollywood blockbusters on the big screen. With six state-of-the-art Ster-Kinekor cinemas featuring the latest blockbusters and 3D movies, you can catch the latest local and international releases in high definition at Carnival City.
Movie lovers are promised an amazing cinema experience which includes a Cine Prestige Cinema as well as a dedicated Kids Cinema, one of only six in South Africa.
Thrill your little ones with these fabulous titles coming in December, including Throwback movies Shrek The Third and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted on the 19th and 26th respectively. The Spongebob Movie: Search For SquarePants, Pets On A Train, and Treasure Hunt are all scheduled for December, and Tom & Jerry: Forbidden Compass is coming early January.

Lazer Zone is fast-paced combat game played with guns that fire infrared beams in a low-light arena. Infrared-enabled clothing is worn by players so that the lazer beams can be detected during the course of the game. With the aim to shoot your opponents as many times as possible and gain powers from shooting gem targets, it’s best to play Lazer Zone in teams or groups. Also known as Lazer Quest, Lazer Combat or simply Lazer Zone, the game is 100% safe to play and can be enjoyed by children aged five years and older
What would a carnival be without go-karts? Designed with safety and fun in mind, Carnival City’s Grand Prix outdoor racing track will not only put your driving skills to the test, it will have you whizzing around the S-bends faster than a strike of lightning. As the home of go- kart racing in the East Rand, the course stretches over 450 metres with sharp bends that need to be tackled before racing towards the finishing line.
