Namibian Disability, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Conference

The Intelligence Transfer Centre (ITC) presents the Namibian Disability, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Conference. Under the theme “Turning Policy into Practice for Disability, Diversity & Equity in the Workplace,” the event will convene government leaders, international organizations, civil society, and corporate stakeholders to explore strategies for advancing disability inclusion, workplace accountability, and equitable opportunities. Key topics include employment equity, inclusive workplace culture, health integration, and entrepreneurship for persons with disabilities.

The Namibian Disability, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Conference will serve as a landmark platform for advancing disability rights and workplace equity across Namibia. Hosted by the Intelligence Transfer Centre (ITC), the event is themed “Turning Policy into Practice for Disability, Diversity & Equity in the Workplace” and will convene government leaders, international organizations, civil society, and corporate stakeholders.

Confirmed speakers include Hon Fillemon Wise Immanuel (Minister of Justice and Labour, Namibia), Hon Dr Sanet L. Steenkamp (Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts & Culture), Ms Erika Goldson (Resident Representative, UNFPA Namibia), Prof Andrew Niikondo (Acting Vice-Chancellor, NUST), Dr Alfons Amoona (Deputy Executive Director, Ministry of Health and Social Services), Ms Kyllikki Sihlahla (Labour Commissioner, Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations), Adv. Otniel Podewiltz (Employment Equity Commissioner, EEC), alongside leaders from WHO Namibia, City of Windhoek, UNA, NNAD, and other disability organizations.

Key topics to be addressed include enforcing employment equity for persons with disabilities, integrating disability into health and social systems, strengthening workplace accountability, building inclusive organizational cultures, leveraging data-driven approaches to policy, and expanding opportunities in education, STEM, and entrepreneurship. The role of Disabled Persons’ Organizations in driving sustainable transformation and ensuring that disability rights move from policy into practice will also be highlighted.

This conference will provide delegates with actionable insights, networking opportunities, and a platform to engage with policymakers and thought leaders committed to creating inclusive workplaces and communities.
