I have an exemplary track record as an executive assistant and in some cases have performed the role with the dual functionality of communications, marketing, PR and events management; having assumed these roles at mid level in the computer, FMCG and more recently the financial services industries. My experience spans well over 18 years, in which time I have done much to enhance my skills base through constant on-the-job training and formal tertiary studies. The desire for growth in the aforementioned areas of interest, has seen me gearing my studies in that direction as well as garnering experience where possible in positions of employ (see attached CV).
I have exceptionally strong writing, analytic and research skills and am able to formulate communication and positioning strategies in accordance. Ultimately, I would like to secure a position that would better suit my educational, skills and experience base.
I have recently graduated cum laude in the National Diploma Public Relations at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), with marketing, communication science, public relations and media studies as my majors. Currently, I am studying part time towards a B.Tech PR at CPUT which I hope to complete at the end of this year.
To complement my experience and field of study, I am actively involved in co-coordinating a host of PR, marketing and event management initiatives in the softball arena of which I am a playing member and developer. Some of which has included community development projects such as the Western Province School of Excellence that is geared to offering training and development to young softball players between the ages of 13 - 18 who display a natural talent for the sport, but due to their reduced socio-economic circumstances are somewhat stymied in advancing any aspirations they may have in that sense. Part of our challenge is to ensure we produce players in a holistic manner, who are socially aware and environmentally conscious so that they are able to aid in the development of their respective communities. More recently, I have signed up as a volunteer to serve on the events management committee for the upcoming Softball Junior World Championships scheduled to take place in South Africa in December 2011.
My propensity of truly 'getting' the vision presented to me in a marketing, PR and communications brief, has seen me driving an initiative to successfully ensure a client or project not only assumes its rightful position in the given market, but is viewed optimally by its target audience and grows its market share accordingly.
The pressurised and highly competitive climate of the industries I have worked in is suited to my innate ability of meeting exacting deadlines expeditiously and in order of priority. I am tenacious and able to focus and remain calm in the face of volatile situations - qualities that are my strongest assets and have served me well to date. I believe my outgoing personality, coupled with the skills base and experience outlined, will be an asset to any organisation wishing to engage my services.
