AICPA and CIMA appoints Tariro Mutizwa as new regional vice president for Africa

The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (the Association), the unified voice of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), have announced that Tariro Mutizwa will join the Association as Regional Vice President - Africa on 2 November 2020.

Tairiro will lead the Association’s operations and development in Africa, fueling the organisation’s growth on the continent and across the world. This includes work to encourage new entrants to the profession, supporting students and members, partnering with universities, employers, regulators and government.

Tariro brings more than 16 years of business, management and leadership experience to this role. She joins from Hudaco Industries Limited where she led the company’s risk management and audit function for over four years. She previously worked at PwC where she was responsible for business development, client relationship management and overseeing the delivery of contracted work. Tariro is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe, the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, and is an MBA graduate from Oxford Brookes University.

On her appointment Tariro said, ‘‘I am delighted to be joining the Association. I have been impressed by all the good work it has done to lead on the future of finance in Africa. I am tremendously excited to take-up this challenging role and look forward to working with the team to take the profession in Africa to new heights.”
