STADIO Higher Education is inviting applications for the position of: Lecturer

 This is a part-time fixed-term appointment for the second semester of the 2026 academic year. The successful candidate will be required to fulfil all duties associated with the appointment and will be expected to be available to work on campus at the Centurion Contact Learning Campus as required to meet academic and operational requirements.

Purpose

To deliver high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and academic support in the bachelor of education (foundation phase teaching) and bachelor of education (intermediate phase teaching) programmes through contact and distance learning, while contributing to curriculum development, teaching practice, quality assurance, and academic administration to enhance student success and support the strategic objectives of the school of education.

Key responsibilities
  • Lecture and assess contact learning and distance learning students in BEd (foundation phase teaching) and the BEd (intermediate phase teaching) programme(s) in the following modules:
    • Beginning knowledge
    • Service learning
    • Teaching practice intermediate phase 2
  • Independently use the learning anmagement system and/or collaborate with colleagues to design, develop and deliver high quality module content.
  • Contribute to programme development processes, including curriculum design, review and the creation or improvement of learning materials.
  • Perform allocated internal moderation duties to ensure academic integrity, consistency and compliance with institutional standards.
  • Conduct invigilation of venue-based assessments as required by the registrar’s office, ensuring full adherence to examination policies and procedures.
  • Participate in school-based teaching practice assessments, providing constructive feedback and supporting the development of student teachers.
  • Provide academic support to students.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and other members of management.
  • Ensure administrative efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with all policies and SOPs.
  • Participate in and attend meetings and workshops.
  • Fulfil functions on relevant committees, and in meetings and workshops as reasonably requested by management.
  • Fulfil all reasonably expected administrative functions relating to the position and as requested by the relevant line manager.


Skills and competencies
  • Sound teaching and assessment skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • High level of computer proficiency with good knowledge of modern information technology infrastructure and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to cope with change.
  • Willingness to work when required on Saturdays.
Qualifications and experience
  • Minimum bachelor of education honours or equivalent qualification with relevant study in foundation phase teaching and relevant experience in teaching practice in the initial degree.
  • At least 3 years teaching and/or lecturing experience in the relevant phases and disciplines.
  • Experience in curriculum and materials development.
  • Experience in online and blended teaching and learning environments.
