"We are looking at a staggered opening of our motor vehicle registration offices in particular from next month when all applicable measures are in place to ensure the safety of members of the public and of City staff and when full access to the National Traffic Information System has been gained.
"As for City revenue and cash offices, some will be opening soon with the necessary precautions in place, but this would of course exclude motor vehicle services. The City will communicate ahead of the opening of particular offices as timeously as possible. The City still has a range of online services available and we encourage customers to continue to make use of all remote offerings as far as possible to stay home and stay safe rather than venture out unnecessarily," said Alderman Ian Neilson, the City’s Executive Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Finance.
Lockdown-related grace periods apply to:
• Driving licences applications and renewals
• Learner’s licences
• Temporary permits
• Professional driving permits (PrDPs)
• Roadworthy certificates
• The registering and licensing of a motor vehicle, as well as annual renewal
In addition, the validity period for the renewal of a motor trade number licence is extended for a further six months after the Level 5 or Level 4 lockdown has ended.
