Established in 2012 to promote, on a non-profit basis, the advancement of the practice and quality of environmental assessment in South Africa, the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA) will host its inaugural general meeting (GM) on Tuesday, 17 November, at the Premier Hotel Midrand in Gauteng.

The main objectives of the GM include the election of board members, the presentation of the chairperson’s report and the audited annual financial statements for the previous financial year.

EAPASA is a single registration authority according to National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) Section 24H. It seeks to advance the practice and quality of environmental assessment in South Africa in the public interest of the environment. The organisation was recognised by the executive committee of South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) as a statutory professional body and registered the professional designation environmental assessment practitioner (EAP) on the National Qualifications Framework Act, 2008 (Act No.67 of 2008).

The GM is set to take place 8am-12pm and will include guests in the environmental sector and registered environmental assessment practitioners. A limited number of guests are required to attend physically, while others can participate virtually in observance of the Covid-19 regulations.
