The third annual Jozi Film Festival (JFF), taking place 21-23 February 2014, has added a mobile competition. The competition is open now to anyone throughout South Africa and internationally with a smart phone/mobile device/tablet.

Participants need to download the Vine app, create their own 6-second Vine video focusing on the theme 'Unexpected' and share the video/link to the Vine video with @CarelNolte on Twitter, including the #jff2014 hashtag. The competition closes at midnight on 16 February 2014, finalists will be announced at the start of the Jozi Film Festival and the winner selected at the awards ceremony on 23 February 2014.

    Jozi Film Festival

Now the first festival on the yearly South African film festival calendar, the Jozi Film Festival is an annual event that showcases the latest films made by South African and international filmmakers in Johannesburg.

It will highlight the very best in filmmaking, presenting a multi-genre slate of films from emerging and established filmmakers, exploring a broad range of topics that affect the city's communities and stir their hearts and minds. An exciting line up of South African and international films will be screened over a three-day period at several venues throughout the city, including The Bioscope Independent Cinema in the heart of Johannesburg.

The festival will also offer provocative Q&A sessions with the filmmakers in attendance, as well as workshops and networking events. Wrapping up the festival will be the awards ceremony on 23 February 2014.

Competition categories include Best Feature Film, Best Feature Documentary Film, Best Animated Film, Best Fiction Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Student Film, Audience Choice Award, and Best Mobile Phone Film. Prizes will be offered to the winners.

The Jozi Film Festival is a non-profit organisation dedicated to enriching local culture, supporting the city's vibrant film community and reaching new audiences through the powerful language of film. For more information, go to www.jozifilmfestival.co.za.
