Innovation and creativity at the Design Indaba Expo

Imagine every creative thing you've ever seen or thought of and put it all into one very big room. Bam - you have this year's Design Indaba Expo. Not only is it all so very innovative, but also the majority of the artists have begun to "go green" and are trying to create art whilst still helping the environment.

Food? Jewellery? Clothes? Shoes? Books? Drink? Well there is no need to choose because it's all there at your fingertips.

As you walk through the winding pathways, your senses are bombarded with sights and smells that draw you in and have you stopping at every stall for every snippet of information that you can get hold of. The best part is that everyone is so willing to answer the questions, no matter from whom and no matter what they're about.

It's a little bit expensive, though, if you're on a student budget or not willing to spend loads of money, but it's still very interesting to see what's out there, what the new talent is doing and where the old talent is going.

The only issue I had was finding things; as far as I could see there weren't any maps and if there were they weren't easily locatable.

If you do decide to go next year, I recommend that you go on the second or last day because the first day is generally when all the students go and things get pretty rough. This makes for an unpleasant visit because you don't have time to browse through the various bits and bobs. What could take you two hours to look through, may take you 30 minutes simply because you want to get out of there and away from the crowds.

Overall, it was an experience I will definitely take part in again next year because I truly believe that it will be better and bigger. Start saving up now - you can't miss out on the Design Indaba Expo, it's where all the innovation is happening.
